We’re looking for a proactive Category Buyer to join our Supply Chain team, managing UK raw material sourcing and suppliers to keep Huel’s production running smoothly and sustainably.
We usually respond within two weeks
Hey! We're Huel, and we're pleased to meet you 👋
Our culture thrives on high performance, and we set the bar high for new Hueligans who join us.
We invite you to read the advert below for our new Category Buyer position to understand the role, and explore our 7 Huel values before applying to ensure we have the right working environment for you!
The role
We’re incredibly proud of our product range — it’s helped us achieve over £250 million in sales in just 10 years! But at Huel, we’re never ones to sit still. It’s in our Hueligan DNA to keep pushing forward, and that means constantly improving what we do and how we do it.To help us do just that, we’re looking for a proactive Category Buyer to join our fast-paced Supply Chain team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping Huel’s production running smoothly — from managing relationships with raw material suppliers to tracking orders and making sure we’ve got everything we need to keep fuelling the world.
We’re after someone who’s highly organised, passionate about sustainability, and excited by the idea of shaping the future of nutritionally complete food.
Your main focus will be sourcing UK raw material ingredients, and here’s a taste of what you’ll get up to:
Developing and implementing a strategy to take Huel’s ingredient portfolio to the next level; ensuring that we have a strong partner base that can service at both a local and global level.
Working closely with the NPD and technical teams to understand what materials they need to produce the best product, as well as providing support and advice on possible supply chain challenges
Supplier relationship management; building on existing supplier relationships and striking up successful new ones
Ensuring all suppliers and ingredients meet Huel’s high technical, ethical and sustainability standards and that any new suppliers are robust and can keep up with Huel’s growing demand
Negotiating the best costs for the materials we buy
Managing all internal communication to create supply chain transparency throughout the business
Working closely with the Materials Planning Team to ensure we have appropriate material availability, and helping to resolve supply issues as required
Mentoring and guiding some of the other members of the Procurement team to support their development
Leading and guiding some parts of the day to day Ingredients Procurement function, such as team meetings
What we're looking for in you
This role would suit someone with around 2+ years of buying experience. If you’ve worked in FMCG, that’s a bonus — but we’re open to different backgrounds! We’re looking for someone commercially minded, with a genuine passion for sustainability. Experience in a food business is a nice-to-have, but it’s definitely not a dealbreaker. You'll also be:
Enthusiastic about the Huel brand and products we want to launch - You’ll be representing our business to suppliers after all!
We work in a fast paced environment so flexibility will be key in this role as everyone wears a lot of hats and requirements change all the time.
Ability to use your own initiative and be proactive with a high level of attention to detail.
Super communication skills - both for working with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Be comfortable with ambiguity, taking responsibility and getting the job done
Some experience with negotiating, and the ability to lead some negotiations independently
And as always, we’re on the lookout for new Hueligans who love a fast-paced environment and are always striving to be their best. We want people who aren’t afraid to think differently and push boundaries. If you’re all about setting big goals and believe that amazing things happen through creativity and teamwork, you’ll fit right in at Huel!
What do we offer in return?
We know that at times, our teams face demanding pressures, and exceptional effort deserves meaningful rewards.
