Innovation Development Chef

Job description

The Innovation Exec/Chef is a new role, responsible for owning & developing new, innovative & creative amends across all our existing and new product categories. You will drive innovation, spending considerable time in the development kitchens, bringing the business with you on a journey to be leaders in Complete Food. You will collaborate with the wider Operation, Nutrition & Technical teams on delivery of exciting additions to the Huel product range, with a keen focus on concept development whilst working closely with category leads. 

 

  • To be the expert & own our innovation agenda. being ahead of the market on all the latest trends & ingredients. Bringing all Huel teams on the journey
  • To ensure the business is at the forefront of innovation and aware of new competitor launches and current food trends.
  • To ensure that all new products are developed in line with the business' strategy. These must consider commercial targets- with a constant focus on improving these
  • To take ownership of the NPD process by helping put in place procedures and a clear workable process, which is clearly defined within the business.
  • Impeccable compliance and communication at each stage effectively both internally & externally.
  • To manage the delivery of innovation from respective sites, including occasional supplier visits.
  • To ensure that all developments satisfy price, quality, technical & operational parameters by means of a feasibility process, before sharing with the NPD leads.
  • Motivate & influence the NPD team & Huel business to think differently- think bigger

Requirements

  • Experience in an innovation, development or equivalent role
  • Previous experience in Powder, Cereal, Bar or RTD categories advantageous
  • A clear 'foodie' mentality understanding the latest up & coming categories relevant to Huel
  • GNVQ Level3 in Catering & Hospitality or Previous Kitchen/Development chef experience
  • Degree in Food science, Nutrition or equivalent is desirable
  • Knowledge of Liquid development & Ready meal processing is desirable but not essential
  • Level 3 Minimum food safety & Hygiene certification
  • Able to work both as an individual & a team player
  • Must be creative and have a thirst for knowledge
  • Not frightened to challenge the “norm”
  • Demonstrate an advanced standard of ingredient functionality
