Our Technical team are super important to Huel and play a huge part in supplying our Hueligans with high-quality food 🍓 So, we are looking for a Sensory Scientist to join us and be hands on with all things Sensory! You will be our go-to for internal product investigations and experiments, carrying out weekly taste panels in our on site lab and conducting product benchmarking 🧑🔬.
No day is the same here at Huel, but here's an insight in to what you'll get up to:
Working closely with NPD and Technical Managers to develop QAS’ for all new products.
Carrying out taste panels at our onsite sensory lab, analysing data and presenting summary findings to the wider team. You’ll even get to recruit your own panel!
Conducting shelf life panels using various Quality equipment to identify problem areas and suggest quality improvements
Supporting the US Organoleptic process, where needed. Be a point of contact for all data and results, ensuring communication of results to Technical, NPD and sometimes Marketing
Providing sensory training internally and to our co-manufacturers to ensure they are testing in full and on time, to the right standards
Trend and analyse data across sensory, and communicate to the right people across the business to move things forward
Review the next steps on sensory, to progress categories or products
Working with our Senior R&D Manager to support with lab investigations, analytics and business projects
Working with our international team to understand market product preferences
You may get involved in wider quality tasks like supporting with quality checks, helping with micro sampling or any other tasks that the team are all busy contributing to!

What we're looking for in you
This role is best suited to someone with 1-2 years experience in a Sensory Science position or similar. You'll understand sensory testing on food and drink, be able to build and maintain strong working relationships and be a super organised individual! 📊 Mostly, you'll be creative, analytical and passionate about Sensory science whilst having a strong work ethic and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment. A degree in food science/tech is a bonus but not a deal breaker! 🤝
