At Huel, we have an excellent reputation for delivering innovative food products of the highest standards to customers around the globe. You'll be an integral part of this product innovation, working directly within the NPD team to source new materials for these products.

As an Assistant Buyer, you'll make sure we're sourcing from reliable and ethical suppliers who share and uphold our core values, and at competitive prices.

The procurement team that you'll join had a headcount of just 3 early last year - it will be soon approaching double figures. This growth, as well as keeping things exciting, offers opportunities for you to progress.

You'll be given the support you need to keep developing. Our culture allows you to get stuck in from day one and take on lots of responsibility by working directly with suppliers.

This role will be a mixture of remote work and office-based work at our HQ in Tring (45mins from Euston).

What you will be doing

  • Working closely with our New Product Development (NPD) team to source new materials for our growing range of products
  • Ensuring all new suppliers meet Huel's high ethical and sustainability standards
  • Negotiating the best costs for the materials in your portfolio
  • Ensuring our suppliers are suitably robust and can keep up with Huel’s demand; implementing risk mitigation plans where required.
  • Managing our suppliers to get the level of service required, protecting availability for our customers
  • Working closely with the Demand Team to ensure we have appropriate material availability, and helping to resolve supply issues as required

What we are looking for

  • Able to spot commercial opportunities that are in line with our brand values and ethos
  • A passion for food
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently to keep up with Huel's pace
  • An excellent communicator. Working with all of our suppliers and internal teams you'll need to be able to communicate well
  • Enthusiasm and a strong work ethic are essential
  • Flexibility will be key, everyone wears a lot of hats, and requirements change all the time
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, take responsibility, and get the job done
  • Experience in the food supply chain is preferred but not essential
  • Excel skills required
